(28 Kms via Mysore Road and Kengeri): An interesting picnic spot. There is a big Banyan tree, the branches of which, spread over three acres. The 400 years old tree witnessed the penance of sage Muneshwara.Take a right turn on Mysore road at 20th Kilometer milestone and proceed 8 Kilometers to reach the spot. There is a KSTDC Restaurant alongside. Nandi Hills (60 Kms via Devanahalli.): A well known summer-resort. Tipu's Drop is an attraction here. Cottages are available here. Shivaganga (60 Kms from Bangalore via Tumkur Road): There are temples dedicated to Gangadhara and Honnadevi. There is a fresh water spring called Pathala Ganga. Regular KSRTC buses are available from Tumkur (20 Kms) and Bangalore. Mekedatu (Goat's Leap) (98 Kms via Kanakapura Road): The river Arkavathi flows through a deep gorge. The Sangameshwara temple is at the confluence of the river Arkavathi and Cauvery. The river flows in a ravine over which a goat can easily leap. Hence the name Mekedatu. Bannerghatta National Park (20 Kms from Bangalore via Anekal Road): Noted for its picturesque scenery and its temple. Mayura Vanashree Restaurant - KSTDC (washroom available). Ghati Subramanya 52 Kms via Doddaballapur (17 Kms) Nearest railway station is Makali Durga on the Bangalore - Guntakal line: The famous temple of Lord Subramanya is situated here. Devarayanadurga 79 Kms from Bangalore via Tumkur (16 Kms): A hill resort. At the foot of the hill there is a natural water spring. (Take a deviation at 10th mile stone). There is an artificial lake that spreads over nearly 1000 acres. The Indo-Danish Dairy project and Government Horticultural and dairy farms are located here. Accommodation : Traveler's Bungalow under BWSSB, Bangalore. (44 Kms via Brigade Road-Hosur Road-Anekal-Pearl Valley); A picnic spot with a waterfall which is 300ft. high. There is a Traveler's Bungalow 6 Kms from Anekal Town on the Hosur Road. For reservations contact Block Development Officer, Anekal. Savanadurga (58 Kms via Magadi Road): A hill fortress which was the hideout of Kempe Gowda. There is a temple dedicated to Narasimhaswamy. Accommodation is available at the Traveler's Bungalow. Kanva Reservoir (69 Kms via Bangalore-Mysore Road) KSRTC Bus Service Available from Bangalore to Ramohalli-Ramanagaram Kanva Reservoir. For accommodation in Traveler's Bungalow, contact Assistant Executive Engineer, No. 2, Sub Division, Channapatna. Hesaraghatta (29 Kms. via Bangalore - Bombay National Highway NH4.) Turn right at the 10th mile stone on NH4. There is an artificial lake spread over an area of nearly 1,000 acres. Late Protima Bedi's Nrityagram is also located there. |
